Three Decades & Counting

We began working together in the early 1990s at a local 401(k) firm. We’ve learned a lot since then about each other and about our clients. We’ve learned that our clients value intelligent and thoughtful solutions to complicated issues, and that’s what we set out to do.

Acquiring knowledge must be core to our business.

Between changes in government regulations and technology, our knowledge must change or it’s obsolete. We’ve learned that we all make mistakes so we check everything that goes out the door. But the most important thing we’ve learned is that small business owners don’t have enough hours in the day to get everything done.

Our clients need to focus on what they do, so our focus has to be on accurate, timely plan support, written in plain English; so our clients’ plans stay in compliance and out of their hair.

I am a native North Carolinian. I live in Charlotte with my wife Noelle, our youngest son Brackett and our dog Sugar.  My oldest son attends NC State. We are a sports family and enjoy hiking or attending our sons’ sporting activities. During football season you will find us either cheering on the Panthers or the Wolfpack. I was a champion Go Kart racer in my youth.

I’m a native Texan and if you’ve ever been to Texas, you know what that means. We’re proud of our state and our traditions.
For fun, my husband and I spend time with our dogs. I also enjoy reading. Besides Texas history, British History is a favorite subject. I have pictures of all forty monarchs in my office.

Nothing prepares you for the unexpected death of a friend and partner who has been by your side as you've grown an idea into a thriving business.

Losing Tim Swider has been devastating to all of us, and we miss him. We planned everything together except this loss.

Tim’s enthusiasm for life, keen sense of understanding and appreciating everyone he met, and commitment to always do good in the world will keep his legacy living on in our hearts, and by grace, in our actions.

Tim… we love you, and know you’re still keeping us whole and on our toes!

Anita Haynes

I live in Concord with my husband.   My husband has cows, our daughter has horses and I have cats.   I enjoy traveling with my sisters, watching my daughter ride her horses and baking cookies for my nephew.   I have an identical twin sister and yes, we look alike.

Laura Skinnell

I live in South Carolina with my husband and two children, a boy and a girl.  My son plays travel baseball which keeps our family busy.  I have two dogs named Belle and Juliet and a cat named Misty.  I am originally from North Carolina but I moved to South Carolina in 1993.  I enjoy attending Zumba at the YMCA with my daughter and my favorite seasons are Spring and Summer. My husband has been a volunteer fireman for 33 years.

Trent Scruggs

I am married with three children. I enjoy making geometric origami, building paper roller coasters, and making fun contraptions, such as air compressed rocket launchers. The neighborhood kids love it too. I even built a water balloon launcher that was a big hit. I enjoy North Carolina basketball and anything related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Joan Waters

I am a Charlotte native.  I love traveling, especially to beach destinations.  Time spent with my family is important to me. We enjoy hiking and other adventures.  I actually skydived once!

Angie Bivens

I am a native of Charlotte and have lived in the Charlotte area all my life. I currently live in Fort Mill, SC with my two beautiful daughters and our dog. I enjoy spending time with my family and trips to the beach. I also enjoy reading all kinds of books. In the past 5 years, I have read through the Bible 5 times.
